As the Mid-Autumn Festival approaches, the moon becomes a beautiful symbol of family, reunion, memories, distance, and connection.
In this composition session, I begin creating a new original piano piece, “When the Moon Rises.” Rather than performing a finished song, I share the creative process itself — exploring the melody, harmony, rhythm, and emotion at the piano, one note at a time.
The idea begins with a simple image: the moon rising quietly in the evening sky. Someone looks up at the moon, perhaps thinking of home, family, or someone far away. The same moon connects people across distance.
For now, this is only the beginning of the composition. I will first develop the piano music and become familiar with the melody. Later, I may add lyrics inspired by the ancient Chinese poem 《When the Moon Rises.》 from The Book of Songs. There is some technical issue when I recorded the video. Thank you for watching.
